Psychologist David Parker of MyClinic at Prahran

David Parker consulting from MyClinic Prahran

David has worked in various fields as a psychologist for 30 years. He is registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency and a Fellow of the Australian Psychological Society. David is based at MyClinic Prahran and you can make an appointment to see him by ringing the clinic.

David’s experience has included working in Community Mental Health, Disability Employment, Private Practice and Specialist Pharmacotherapy settings. David has worked with clients who have a variety of conditions such as: anxiety and depression, complex personality traits, mental illness, low motivation, chronic illness, burnout from a caring role and substance abuse.

David has an eclectic approach and believes that a trauma informed person centred therapeutic style facilitates an environment where a client feels safe to talk about their personal issues and to use the therapy to assist them to develop a realistic perspective, increased awareness of their situation and ability to resolve the problems. The end result is that the clients feel much better about the particular issues and the impact of them on their lives is markedly reduced.

David’s training includes aspects of person centred therapy, cognitive behaviour therapy, psychodrama, solution focussed counselling, interpersonal therapy and psychoanalysis.

He also has extensive experience in report writing and is able to provide documents such as letters of support and longer reports for a variety of third parties.

Earlier in his life, David became a Registered Nurse and has an interest in the relationship between physical illness and mental-ill health.
